Septic System Maintenance

Blackstone Engineering provides septic system maintenance for Type 1, 2 and 3 systems.

In B.C. all septic systems must be maintained in accordance with the maintenance plan provided by the designer. Regular maintenance will protect your investment, ensure the system is operating as designed and extend the life of the septic system. Every maintenance service includes documentation for the owner to keep as a service record that summarises the work done, findings and recommendations.

Our maintenance plans are customised for each individual septic system but generally include:

Visual inspection of all components including tanks, treatment systems, pumps and drainfields.
Check and clean filters.
Measurement of scum and sludge levels in tanks and recommendations for pumping.
Inspection of effluent clarity, color and odor.
Check of all pumps, control panels and alarms.
Type 2 and 3 treatment plant maintenance in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
UV light and chlorine replacement if required.
Measurement of key operating parameters including DO, BOD and TSS if required.
Flushing of laterals and drainfield maintenance.
